Toronto 2010 - Red Rocket on Queen

I know exactly what you're all thinking about the title and you're all a bunch of perverts!

Calgary Auto Show 2010 - Hot Wheels

I like cars but I know next to nothing about them

I like older cars ever more and know even less :)

It's the lines, and curves that make it or break it for me, I don't care much what's under the hood...I'm superficial that way.

Player Piano - circa 1939 - Pianola 1

First developed in the 1870's the player piano, also known as a autopaino, works with rolls of paper, with punctures, those set off the proper keys through an internal system, powered by foot pedals. This particular one isn't in operation, but was once a family favourite and hasn't moved more than a few inches in over fifty five years.

Toronto - Metropolitan United Church - Queen Street

Right smack dab in the middle of Queen Street in Toronto I came across this church, which was built sometime in the 1870's. It was designed by Henry Langley, well known for his neo-gothic architecture, which he blanketed over Ontario at those times.

I'm by no means a religious man, but as a fan of architecture, I cannot deny the beauty of structures designed for God. It's like humbleness and smitey awesomeness all at once.

Lavalife Share the Love - Always One Degree Apart

Vote for my wife and I!

Lavalife Share the Love - Always One Degree Apart

Toronto - Liberty Village

I've had bad knees for years. This type of shot involved by getting on the ground and using my think tank bag as support.

That was the easy part. Getting up seemed fine until later, when my knee swelled and continued to give me trouble over the next week.

None the less I'm pleased with the results!

Player Piano - circa 1929 - Gears2

The more I do black and white, the more I enjoy the diversity I get working with it in Adobe Camera Raw.

That 70's Car - Parkerhouse

I realize that the title implies there's a car in the shot, and more from this set will. At least it gives the impression you're in a car :)

Family Photo Archive - circa 1940

While in Toronto at my grandmother's she happened upon an old brown envelope with about half a dozen 120mm negatives. It was an amazing surprise, to both of us, as she had no knowledge of their being any left in the home.

That's my grandfather on the left, in his late teens. in August 2008 he died, and I never got to know him very well. Much of what I learn now are of stories, and of course, photographs.

Pappa and I were estranged, but he told my Nan after seeing me a couple years ago (and for the last time) that he was pleased with the man I had become.

That's all any grandchild could ever ask for.

Player Piano - Circa 1929 - Gears

Back from Toronto I'm quite behind on a few things, but this morning I wanted to post at least something from my trip.

This is the inside of a player piano from the early 20th century.

Piano - circa

In my grandmother's basement in Toronto sits an old piano circa 1929.
It was purchased in 1957, the year my father was born.
The old Williams player piano hasn't worked in a long while but makes for an incredible art piece.
The inner workings were stunning and rustic and the wood, which had been restored shortly after, had a wonderful texture.
Needless to say I shot the hell out of it.

Toronto - Queen East

Had my first walk-about today in downtown Toronto. Stopped at Henry's camera store...absolutely incredible. Great service and a huge selection. Thanks to mike for my "new" 24-70mm 3.5-4.5f lens for my Pentax K-1000.

Afterwards Snapping some shots of Queen East, I headed to Spadina Avenue, near the University of Toronto, and walked a few back roads. Lots to see and shoot.

Expect some artsy fartsy stuff when i return to Calgary next week.
